Billions at Stake as Oil Mogul’s Divorce Turns Greedy

It turns out billionaires have money problems too — at least when the lack of a prenuptial agreement takes a turn for the worst. According to Forbes online, the world is on the brink of witnessing “the biggest settlement in history, worth over $5 billion.” Oil tycoon Harold Hamm could lose grip on the company he established back in 1967, as wife Sue Ann Hamm goes for the black gold and billions. It might be the divorce of the century.

Hamm is worth a reportedly $11.3 billion, with most of his shares tied into his massive company, Continental Resources. After being married for 25 years, Sue Ann filed for divorce, alleging Harold committed adultery. The years of marriage coupled with several years as the executive for Continental Resources could grant her half of Harold’s 68% stake in the company.

If a prenuptial agreement ceases to surface, Sue Ann will see a more-than-generous amount of money flood into her account. The existence of a prenuptial agreement could change the rules of the game, sparing Harold’s billions and his company.
